I support the candidacy of Professor Mo El-Hawary for 2009 IEEE Division VII Director-elect. I have known Mo since 1978 when we both were members of the PES Computer Application (now Computer and Analytical Methods) Committee. I was quite impressed with Mo’s capability and supported his election to the secretary of the CAM Committee. Later we both were also active in the Power System Operation Committee, Mo as the Committee’s Chair and I as the Power System Restoration Working Group Chair. Over the past 30 years, I have witnessed Dr. El-Hawary’s dedication as a volunteer for several activities within PES. His biography calls attention to some of these PES activities.
Mo has the leadership and experience needed to inspire today’s IEEE membership. He will make an outstanding Director.
